Hoboud

A music and cultural project created at the turn of 2008/2009 by Maria and Marcin Rumiński in Olsztyn. From the first official rehearsal in the hall of the Association “Wolna Grupa Twórcza”, there is great interest from the media and music circles in the group. In the space of under two months of the existence of the MySpace profile – Hoboud, the page was visited by a record number of 12 thousand people from around the globe (51 thousand after a year). The premiere concert took place on 21 March in Stefan Jaracz Theatre in Olsztyn at the opening of the XVII Olsztyn Theatre Meetings. Interest in the group was so great that another concert was organised half an hour later (tickets were sold out already on the second day after the theatre’s ticket booth was opened). Gazeta Wyborcza in Olsztyn wrote: “Who heard Hobouda on the Internet, was not disappointed at the concert. The group’s charisma was even stronger live. Energetic playing, the beautiful vocals of Maria Rumińska and Agnieszka Symołon, took the listeners into a whole other world. The songs that were presented for the first time, turned out to be proposals just as interesting as those already known.

Jacek Kowalski – graduate of the Institute of the History of Art at the Adam Mickiewicz University in Poznań and lecturer at that university. He conducts studies of gothic architecture in Greater Poland. Laureate of the XXIV Student Song Festival in Krakow (1988), performer of his own songs (with the groups Monogramista JK and Klub Świętego Ludwika), translator and propagator of old-French poetry (among other Villon and Charles, Duke of Orleans).

Klub Św. Ludwika – a group established in 1996 by Jacek Kowalski and Jan Goławski. Klub tries to restore old pieces their full dimension, in which sound and word mutually complete one another. It prepares concerts of medieval songs in translations done by Jacek Kowalski, while the arrangements are written by the well-known musician, Tomasz Dobrzański – also reconstructing old instruments, which Klub uses.

Percival

A band composed of Mikołaj Rybacki, Katarzyna Bromirska and Joanna Lacher. The project is the result of fascination with the early Middle Ages. The musicians themselves say: “Our goal is to try to reconstruct the culture and customs, as well as instruments, and (as much as possible) music of the Slav and Scandinavian people in the early Middle Ages.” They present the results of these attempts at historical shows and festivals, performances with a fellowship and chamber concerts.
