Colourful Art Color Ballet and equally colourful Jewish Culture Festival join the programme of Wianki - Fête de la Musique.
The 27th Jewish Culture Festival is devoted to Jerusalem. The opening event refers to the greatest Jerusalem market, Mahane Yehuda. During the day it is the most popular souk in the city, filled with the hubbub of voices, fragrance of fresh fruits, vegetables and spices. At dusk it turns into a space for various events bustling with life, with bars open between the stalls, live music and an international crowd around. During the Wianki – Fête de la Musique, the market place near Hala Targowa will turn into the Krakow version of a Jerusalem souk. The stalls will close at 6.00 pm to create a dancing floor which Fortuna Records from Tel Aviv do 22.00 will fill with Middle Eastern music. Fortuna Records is a DJ collective and a record label specialising in re-editions of albums of forgotten Israeli and Middle Eastern artists. Their sets are mixes of rare, old-school, psychedelic sounds, the very essence of the best Israel and the Middle East can offer.
Art Color Ballet is the first Polish dance ensemble using body painting in its shows, to its own choreography, stage set, music and body make-up, creating a spectacle of animated painting. Agnieszka Glińska, the group’s founder and Artistic Director, inspired by the symbolism of nature enchanted in the four seasons, will create the performance Four Seasons especially for the Wianki - Fête de la Musique. She draws from the spirit of pre-Slavic world, with its wealth of beliefs and rites following the rhythm of changing seasons. On 24 June, from 4.00 pm to 10.00 pm on the Vistula boulevards residents of Krakow and tourists will have the opportunity to watch four interactive installations based on the energy of the four elements, folklore and Slavic culture. On 8.00 pm a colourful parade will set off on the boulevards, attracting the passers by.
