Wianki – Fête de la Musique – Singing Krakow!
Added: Monday, 27 June 2016
Thanks to favourable weather and sports circumstances, Wianki 2016 has passed into history as by far the most joyous Krakow celebration of music so far. After the blood-chilling but ultimately victorious Poland–Switzerland match in the Round of 16 in the Euro 2016 Championships, the happy people of Krakow took to the streets with song on their lips. And there were plenty of people to sing with – six stages were set up in Krakow where dozens of artists performed, all of this guaranteeing the public more than 24 hours of good music.
The weather was excellent – while storms brought down trees in neighbouring Silesia, there wasn’t even a drop of rain in Krakow. Which doesn’t mean that there was nothing going on in the skies over Krakow. After the Longing for the Summer concert in the square at Powiśle 11, nearby, next to Wawel Hill, there were colours and loud noises. For 15 minutes, crowds of Cracovians gathered at Powiśle could admire the spectacular pyrotechnic show. The great impression the show made on the residents could be heard in the spontaneous cries of delight and applause after the show ended.
