Bad Light District is a Polish music band established in Krakow in 2007.
Originally it functioned as a solo project of Michał Smolicki – the drummer of the Krakow band New York Crasnals.
In May 2009, Ampersand Records released the band’s debut album Simplifications, which was composed and recorded entirely by Michał Smolicki, with the guest participation of members of his main band. Songs from this record quickly made it to the Polish nationwide radio charts – for instance, Street of Frozen Phantoms entered the charts of Polish Radio 3, in which this album became also the record of the week. Simplifications was also reviewed excellently by the Polish nationwide music press (including Machina, Pulp and Teraz Rock magazines). At the beginning of 2010, BLD’s new concert line-up was formed, with Jacek Dąbrowski on guitar, Łukasz Lembas on bass and Maciej Pietrzyk on drums. In September 2012, the band released the second album Nothing Serious, which was produced by Michał Kupicz. In 2014, the band was enlarged with Maciej Kozłowski and recorded and released the third album Science Of Dreams.
