Wianki 2009

World famous artist Lenny Kravitz will perform in Poland on 20th June in Krakow. The musician, who promotes his (eighth studio) album It is time for love revolution will perform on stage by the side of the Vistula river during Wianki – a traditional open-air event referring to the celebration of St John’s Night. Admission to the concert will be free.

This concert by Kravitz, who is the only artist to win a Grammy award four times in a row, is promising to be one of the greatest musical events of the year. The Organizer – the Krakow Festival Office – had previously attracted another great star: British group Jamiroquai to Wawel castle and also for Wianki. These performances by world famous artists make Krakow – until recently primarily associated with tradition and history – function as an important European centre of modern music. Krakow’s Wianki is one of the largest open-air events in Poland. The novel formula of the event has been appreciated, among others, in the ranking Nightlife Awards organized by the monthly Aktivist.

Lenny Kravitz enjoys a position as one of the greatest rock musicians of our times. All his albums have been gold discs, and three of them platinum. His songs have taken the top spot on music charts many times. Apart from Grammy awards Kravitz has also collected the following: American Music Awards (2002, best pop/rock vocalist), MTV Video Music Awards (1993 best male video), Radio Music Awards (2001, artist of the year) Billboard Awards and even VHI/Vogue Fashion Awards (1998, most fashionable man).
